What Is The Other Grammys?

The Other Grammys was initially started 15 years ago by Dr. McHenry, at Jones College Prep through the African American Club. The event was created with the purpose of providing a platform that celebrates and validates minority students. The Other Grammys was created to honor and validate persons from the following communities: women, people of color, persons from poverty stricken areas, persons from the LQBTQ communities. The Other Grammys is a Black Tie Award Show that awards scholarships to minority students.

The Other Grammys is a celebration of minority culture with a political lens. Dr. McHenry started the event to create a space whereby minority students have an opportunity to unapologetically pronounce their identity.
